This year our Conference is centered around the unveiling of the National Canadian Building Trades Monument on Wednesday May 17, 2017. The Monument location is at Major’s Hill Park, just steps from Parliament Hill. The Monument, and the Conference, will honour the achievements and sacrifices of Building Trades workers in Canada. Once unveiled it will provide a place for all Canadians to gather and reflect on the accomplishments and endurance by our members over the years.

The Conference Program is dedicated to the theme of the Monument – “Standing Together”. It will focus on what work we can do together to honour the work of the Building Trades in the past so that we are prepared for the future. Particular focus will be on the importance of organizing the unorganized; mental health in our workplaces, and how to better engage our members in these areas. As always, we will have a diverse cross section of industry and political speakers who will share their thoughts on current affairs and the state of our industry.

We encourage all Local Unions of Building Trades Affiliates to attend and participate in this year’s Conference and in the unveiling of our monument. We especially encourage any Local Union who has lost a member due to workplace accident or the ravages of industrial disease to give special consideration to offer to the family of these members an opportunity to attend the monument unveiling which commemorates their loved one’s ultimate sacriffice while building one of our many projects.
